How a MHR Renovation Project Works

Here is what to expect from first contact through project completion.

Step 1: Free In-Home Estimate

We visit the project site, walk through the scope with you, and take measurements. This is a no-pressure conversation — we ask questions, you ask questions, and we make sure we understand exactly what you want before putting together any numbers. Most estimates take 30 to 60 minutes.

Step 2: Written Scope and Pricing

Within a few days of the site visit, we send a written estimate with line-item pricing: each element of the project (materials, labor, permits) listed separately with a cost. You’ll know exactly what you’re paying for and what changes cost before you sign anything.

Step 3: Material Selection

Once you approve the estimate, we work through material selections with you — tile samples, cabinet finishes, countertop materials, hardware. We guide you through options at different price points within the scope we agreed on. For items with lead time (custom cabinets, specialty tile), we finalize selections early enough that materials are staged before demo starts.

Step 4: Permits

For projects requiring permits — electrical panel work, plumbing rough-in changes, structural modifications — we pull the permits in our name and coordinate with the building department. We account for permit processing time in the project schedule.

Step 5: Demo and Rough Work

Demo starts when materials are staged or committed for delivery — we don’t leave your kitchen gutted while waiting for a backordered item. Rough-in work (framing changes, electrical rough, plumbing rough) happens in the right sequence for inspections.

Step 6: Finish Work

Tile, cabinets, countertops, flooring, drywall, painting, fixtures. Each trade in the right order, with daily site cleanup at the end of every workday.

Step 7: Final Walkthrough and Punch List

Before we consider the project complete, we walk through every element of the scope with you. Any items that need attention — a grout line to touch up, a door to adjust, a fixture to align — go on a punch list and get addressed before we call it done.
